SCHOLARSHIPS AVAILABLE FOR NEW YORK STATE NURSES
Funding supports nurses seeking opportunities in home and community-based care.
ALBANY, NY – Applications are now being accepted from New York State registered and licensed practical nurses for the 2023 Edna A. Lauterbach Scholarship. RNs or LPNs looking to pursue or expand a home and community-based care profession in nursing are urged to apply for this scholarship of up to $6,200. Scholarship awardees can use the grant monies to pay for tuition, books, specialty training, and other educational-related expenses.
“This Scholarship Fund provides critical financial support for nurses looking to take advantage of opportunities in the home care industry,” said Kathy Febraio, President of the New York State Association of Health Care Providers, Inc. (HCP).
The Edna A. Lauterbach Scholarship fund was established in memory of the late Edna Lauterbach, a nurse and pioneer in the home care industry who believed that skilled nurses are essential to home care. The Fund is sponsored by the Community Health Services Foundation, Inc. (CHC), an affiliate of the New York State Association of Health Care Providers, Inc. (HCP).
“The demand for skilled home care nurses is proliferating due to New York State’s aging population, workforce shortage, and consumers who prefer to receive care at home,” continued Febraio. “This Scholarship helps meet this need by assisting nurses who might not otherwise be able to pursue an entrepreneurial dream related to home and community-based care or continue their education to pursue a career in home and community-based care.”
The deadline for Scholarship applications is June 1, 2023. Scholarship winners will be publicly announced at HCP’s Annual Management Conference & Exhibition in October 2023.
