Mentorship Program
The NYS Home Care Providers Foundation (HCPF) an affiliate of the NYS Association of Health Care Providers (HCP) has partnered with leading e-learning platform, Nevvon to offer Legacy of Care©, a tested peer-to-peer mentorship program designed to promote personal and professional growth opportunities for home care caregivers. This turn key program is available to home care agencies nationwide for immediate adoption.
Background
The program was piloted at multiple home care agencies throughout New York State starting June 1, 2020 with the goal of decreasing caregiver turnover rates in the first 90 days of employment—the time frame with the highest level of turnover in home care. The pilot program concluded on May 31, 2021 with key findings showing that non-pilot agencies, those without mentorship programs, had a 170% higher caregiver turnover rate in the first 90 days of employment as compared with pilot agencies during the research period.
Now the program is available for home care agencies nationwide to adopt and transform their own retention programs. The Legacy of Care© program includes thoughtfully designed training for administrative staff and caregiver mentors and guides agencies from implementation to documentation. HCPF has partnered with Nevvon to develop cutting-edge online training modules, available in English and Spanish.
