2024 HCP Awards Nominations

The HCP Board of Directors annually considers presenting seven awards, which are described below along with the criteria for each award. This year’s awards will be presented during the Annual Awards Luncheon on October 29 at the 2024 HCP Annual Management Conference & Exhibition.

HCP members are asked to submit their nomination(s) for those they believe are candidates for these prestigious awards.

To nominate your choices for any of the awards, please do one of the following by July 31, 2024:

• Complete the form and mail to: HCP, 20 Corporate Woods Blvd., 2^nd Floor, Albany, NY 12211.
• Email your completed, scanned form to: hcp@nyshcp.org, with the subject line: “Awards”.

Award Descriptions

Richard Z. Steinhaus Award

The prestigious Richard Z. Steinhaus Award is presented annually to an individual who has made ­outstanding contributions to the home care industry. Criteria: The nominee must be a recognized expert, a leader, an advocate for the home care industry, be well-versed in Federal or New York State legislative or regulatory issues and have spoken on behalf of the home care industry in public forums.

Edna A. Lauterbach Member of the Year Award

Presented to the HCP provider or Health-Related Organization member who does the most to promote the interests and objectives of HCP. Criteria: The nominee is employed by an HCP member in good ­standing, and has shown dedication and demonstrated excellence in furthering the goals and ­objectives of HCP either within the current membership year or over an extended period of years as a member.

Founders’ Spirit Award

The Founders’ Spirit Award, inaugurated in 2001, honors the spirit of the intrepid individuals who founded HCP in 1974. Criteria: The nominee is someone who has demonstrated strong and successful efforts to promote awareness and appreciation of home and community-based services. Initial recipients in 2001 were HCP Founders who remained active in the Association.

Associate Member of the Year Award

Presented to the HCP ­Associate member who does the most to promote the interests and ­objectives of the Association. Criteria: The nominee is ­employed by an HCP Associate member in good standing, and has shown dedication and demonstrated excellence in­­ ­furthering the goals and ­objectives of HCP within the current membership year, or over an extended period of years as a member.

Elected Official of the Year Award

Presented to a local, State or Federal elected ­official who has done the most to advance the ­interests of home and community-based care. Criteria: The nominee is an elected official and has represented the best interests of home care.

Excellence in Public Relations Award

Presented to an HCP provider member that has generated significant media coverage (newspaper, magazine, radio, television, Internet) raising awareness about the home care industry, important home care issues, or their agency. Criteria:  The nominee must submit news clippings, articles, video, audio or Internet clips that demonstrate their success in generating national or local media coverage.

Journalistic Excellence in Support of Home Care

Presented to a journalist, reporter or media outlet that has demonstrated a commitment to raising positive awareness of the home care industry through its reporting or feature stories. Criteria: The nominee must have demonstrated that they have published or secured ongoing positive national or local coverage for the home care industry. Support materials must be submitted with this nomination.
