The New York State Association of Health Care Providers Announces its 2021 Annual Award Winners

The New York State Association of Health Care Providers is pleased to announce its 2021 Annual Award winners, honored for their many contributions to New York’s home care industry. Winners were honored during the Awards Celebration at the HCP 2021 Annual Management Conference and Exhibition, held October 21 in Uniondale, NY.

HCP is proud to continue its long tradition of recognizing those in the home care industry who are passionate about the value and importance of home care. “Through countless challenges these individuals have strived and succeeded in supporting the home care industry,” said Kathy Febraio, CAE, HCP President and CEO.

Glenn Lane, Westchester Family Care Inc., Mamaroneck, NY
Edna A. Lauterbach Member of the Year

The Edna A. Lauterbach Member of the Year Award honors the spirit of the intrepid individuals who founded HCP in 1974. The Edna A. Lauterbach Award is presented to a visionary who shows dedication and excellence to the goals and objectives of HCP, integrity, creativity, energy and hard work.  In the past four years, Glenn’s contributions to HCP were especially evident and most appreciated during the pandemic. He has been an advocate, an organizer, and a vital resource of information and even supplies for HCP members.

“Glenn is committed to the home health care arena, one who will continue to put the best interest of our industry at the forefront.” - Kathy Febraio, President/CEO, HCP.

James Cohen, Nevvon, New York, NY
Associate Member of the Year

The Associate Member of the Year has shown dedication and demonstrated excellence in furthering the goals of HCP and of the home care industry. Over the past years’ challenging pandemic crisis, James has selflessly devoted his time and efforts to ensuring health care providers were supported. This included generously sourcing and donating multiple PPE items that were desperately needed by home care agencies across New York; organizing and delivering lunches to multiple care workers who were dedicated to caring for COVID-19 patients; and creating complimentary infection control and COVID-19 training for New York state home care agencies.

“James has repeatedly demonstrated that he is a key supporter of home care and HCP.” - Kathy Febraio, President/CEO, HCP.

Senator Rachel May, 53rd District, Syracuse, NY
Elected Official of the Year Award

This award was established to recognize elected officials who most effectively advance the interests of the home care industry and the providers who serve it.  Senator May, Chair of the Aging Committee, has been very engaged with HCP this past year. During the budget process Senator May and her staff were engaged and accessible with respect to policy discussions regarding home care and ensured that provisions addressing work force recruitment and retention challenges were at the forefront of policy conversations.

The Senator continues to engage with our members to learn more about the industry and the intricacies of reimbursement and its impact on the ability to maintain a robust and stable workforce.
