Kathy Febraio Appointed President of The New York State Association of Health Care Providers
HCP is pleased to announce that Kathy Febraio has been appointed by the HCP Board of Directors as President of the New York State Association of Health Care Providers, Inc. (HCP) and will begin her role January 1. Kathy is a Certified Association Executive with over 20 years of leadership experience in association and trade group management.
Kathy will be working closely with the HCP Board and President Claudia Hammar to make the transition as seamless as possible for HCP and its members.
“Kathy possesses a strong skill set in both association operations and advocacy and I am excited to begin working with her in the New Year,” said HCP Board Chair Rick Schaefer. “HCP is very fortunate to have such a dedicated and talented professional at the helm of the organization.”
Kathy brings a variety of skills from her previous leadership roles including change management, collaborative strategy and non-profit development. She has frequently played an integral role in developing advocacy strategies and is skilled in key elements such as policy analysis, public testimony, PAC fundraising, grassroots advocacy and coalition building.
“I look forward to leading the home care industry in adapting, evolving and thriving within a changing health care environment and setting the industry standards for quality, cost-effective client care” said Febraio. “Dedicated home caregivers provide essential health care services to a wide range of people including post-surgical patients; people with disabilities; those with chronic diseases; and long-term care patients. The value and importance of home care cannot be underestimated.”
Before joining HCP, Kathy served as the Executive Director for the Pharmacists Society of the State of New York, Inc., in Albany and Executive Director of NYS Speech Language Hearing Association, Inc., in Latham. Prior to that she led communication, public relations, and marketing efforts for the State University of New York System Administration, Office of Learning Environments, in Albany and the NYS Credit Union League, in Latham.
Kathy has also been active in her local community, serving on the board of the American Marketing Association, Capital Region Chapter, and on the Advisory Committee for Emerging Issues in the Nonprofit Sector at Rockefeller College of Public Affairs & Policy. Most recently she has served in various roles on the board of the Empire State Society of Association Executives, including Chair and Board Director.
Kathy holds a Bachelor of Arts in Public Communications from The College of Saint Rose in Albany, NY and received an Association Leadership Certificate from Saint Rose in 2014.
