November is National Home Care and Hospice Month, a time when home care agencies and caregivers across the country raise awareness about the unique and irreplaceable value of health care delivered in the home. Home care empowers clients to take control of their own care while remaining independent and at home, where the majority of Americans prefer to receive health care services. Caregivers who work in the home are uniquely devoted to the health and well-being of their patients. The intimate, individualized nature of personalized home care services delivered to an individual in their own home by caregivers who often become like an extension of their family is an experience that is unforgettable for the individual, the caregivers and the family.

Part of the month-long celebration of National Home Care and Hospice Month is Home Care Aide Week, which takes place November 10 through 16. This week recognizes dedicated, compassionate caregivers – nurses, home health aides, and personal care aides – who make a significant difference in the lives of home care clients and their families. Their compassion in caring for those who are sick, frail, chronically ill or recovering from an illness or surgery is an inspiration.

It's officially Home Care & Hospice Month!
HCP is proud to report that it worked with Governor Cuomo’s office to urge him to proclaim November as Home Care and Hospice Month in New York State. On October 21, Governor Cuomo signed a proclamation recognizing the value and importance of the Home Care industry in New York State in November and throughout the year. We thank the Governor for issuing this proclamation.
