Heroes in the Home

What is Heroes in the Home™ ?

Heroes in the Home™ is a Statewide Caregiver Recognition Program that honors caregivers that have been identified by their agency as outstanding home care caregivers over the last year. These exemplary caregivers are acknowledged at the HCP Annual Awards Luncheon, and each receive a personalized Heroes in the Home™ certificate.

This program aims to encourage home care agencies to recognize outstanding caregivers on an ongoing basis as well as raise public awareness about the importance and value of home care and its workers.

How your agency can participate in the Heroes in the Home™ program:

Any agency that is an HCP member can participate in the Heroes in the Home™ Statewide Caregiver Recognition Program by first offering a recognition program of your own at the agency level or through your local HCP Chapter. This can be done by having an Aide of the Year Award or having several aide awards to recognize more than one outstanding caregiver.

Here are some ways other agencies have recognized caregivers: gift cards, certificates, aide recognition dinners, cash incentives, and much more! As long as you recognize the outstanding performance of an aide at the agency level first, you can nominate that aide for the Heroes in the Home™ Statewide Caregiver Recognition Program.

Who is eligible for the Annual Class of Heroes in the Home™?

Any caregiver who you have recognized in the past year through an awards program that your agency has in place is eligible. Heroes in the Home™ integrates caregiver recognition awards presented by individual HCP member agencies and HCP chapters into a Statewide class of outstanding caregivers. Any HCP member agency or HCP chapter that holds a caregiver recognition/award program is eligible to submit its award winners to be recognized as part of the Heroes in the Home™ recognition program. This program is specifically for Home Health Aides (HHA) and Personal Care Aides (PCA), not office staff.

How to submit:

You can submit a caregiver by emailing their name, designation and the agency they work for (as well as region if there are multiple offices) to HCP –hcp@nyshcp.org, with the subject line “Heroes”Please send submissions by September 10.
