Disaster Relief for Ontario, Orange, and Nearby Counties

On May 28, 2024, Governor Hochul announced that the US Small Business Administration (SBA) will make low-interest loans available to eligible residents and businesses affected by the July 9-10, 2023, severe weather and flooding in Ontario and Orange Counties. Under Small Business Administration (SBA) rules, the following contiguous counties are also eligible for funding: Monroe, Wayne, Seneca, Steuben, Yates, Livingston Sullivan, Ulster, Dutchess, Putnam, Westchester, and Rockland.

Immediately following last summer’s storm, the NY State Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services (DHSES) worked with local government partners to conduct the required assessments in the impacted communities. Hochul’s initial request for funding had been denied by FEMA, making this funding an even bigger win for New Yorkers. The SBA relief loans are made possible with federal funding and can be critical assistance for those still on the road to recovery.

The filing deadline to return applications for physical property damage is July 15, 2024. The deadline to return economic injury applications is February 18, 2025.

As of Wednesday, May 29, 2024, the state has operationalized two in-person disaster loan outreach centers to help New Yorkers apply for these loans. Loan applications are also available online. HCP will keep members informed if additional in-person outreach centers are operationalized.
