HCP President Claudia Hammar issued the following statement to the media today regarding Medicaid funding for home care providers to meet their minimum wage obligations:
"With the minimum wage increase only a few weeks away, HCP is extremely concerned that many of the MLTC plans are refusing to pass through the necessary Medicaid funds that the State has allocated for paying home care workers. These plans are playing a dangerous game of brinksmanship that could put countless jobs and the care of tens of thousands of elderly, disabled and chronically ill New Yorkers at risk. With the holidays fast approaching, Governor Cuomo must act quickly to address this situation in order to avoid significant disruption in the delivery of care to New York’s frailest citizens."
